A fond farewell

There is perhaps no greater a compliment than to be entrusted with the care of children by their parents and guardians, and the families of our school community have done so with me as well as with my talented colleagues over the past seven years. During this time, I have grown both professionally and as a human being, and as a school community we have continued to thrive regardless of the challenges put before us… and we will certainly continue to do so going forward. Indeed, our school community has continued to flourish without fail due to the leadership spirit that has become embedded in each person that has embraced what The Village Charter School represents. It has been my privilege to have been a part of the process.
Nevertheless, as stated in the first stanza of Ecclesiastes “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” I have decided at this time to pass on the leadership of the school to a new leader ready to help take the school to a new level of achievement. The school is presently fiscally sound, our school community is strong, and we hopefully will soon be recognized as a Lighthouse School internationally. It is truly the perfect time for a new chapter to be opened for the school, and for me.
Finally as a father of a little girl who has attended the school since third grade, and who will see his daughter graduate this year, I want you to all know you have found a wonderful place for your children to grow and to be guided with true affection and inspiration. Indeed, as the school has one of the highest safety records in the state, in which there have been no expulsions over the last seven years, and an absence of weapons, drugs, or gang issues, and no lawsuits for negligent or unprofessional behavior, your children can learn in a safe and secure environment.
Again, my thanks to each and every member of our community for all of the incredible memories you have given me. Specifically thank you to all the people I have worked with in the past, and present, all who have been incredibly caring educators, board members, and volunteers who have inspired me to consistently do my best. I will always be in your debt for being with me on my journey as the Lead Administrator for TVCS.

Very sincerely,
Tony Richard
